Springer and Rear Tire
Chop the Frame
D&S Performance in Dallas took on the project for us. First on the list was chopping the frame of the stock softtail rear end and welding in the hardtail. This gives the frame the clean lines and old school rigid feel. There's only a few companies that are making weld-on hardtails for the rubbermount sportys. Bitterend Choppers supplied the rear end.
2005 Harley Sportster 883
On March 19th, my parents suprised me with the keys to a 2005 HD Sportster. The bike had an old school, rustic rattle can paint paint job with a SoCal sticker on the tank. After a few rides up and down the neiborhood street, it felt good to be on a 2 wheels again. Me and dad then spent the rest of the weekend planning our ultimate bobber project. For those unfamiliar to the term bobber, wiki does a pretty good job suggesting a motorcycle that usually has the front fender removed and the rear fender "bobbed" or made smaller. The style started in the 50s where everything is stripped from the bike that is not needed. When I think bobber, I think old school, no chrome, springer front end, hard tail frame, peanut sportster gas tank, white walls, spoke wheels, drag handlebars, and a springer seat. So that same weekend my parents brought the bike down to Austin, we began the bobber transformation.
